There is much discussion around effective goal setting. Few people are successful at it. The first step in the process is to write your goals down and most people fail at this first step. If it is not written it is not a goal.
The second step is to share your goal with others. This shows your commitment to the goal and encourages others to help hold you accountable.
One of the most common ways to create effective goals is to use the acronym “SMART”.
S – Specific
M – Measurable
A – Achievable
R – Relevant
T – Time-Bound

Take the time when creating goals to be sure you understand and meet each of these standards.
When your written goal fulfills all 5 of these standards, and you pursue it using these guidelines, you have an excellent chance for success.
